Windex®
More than 11 million metric tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year. SC Johnson’s iconic Windex® line is the first of its kind, utilizing 100% recovered coastal plastic for quart-sized bottles, excluding the trigger. Recovered coastal plastic is plastic that has been collected on land, within 31 miles of the coast, to stop it from ending up in the ocean or a landfill. These bottles are easily identifiable by the “100% recovered coastal plastic” sticker, as you see on SC Johnson Professional’s Windex® Vinegar Multi-Surface Cleaner.

Method®
Method® transitioned all clear plastic bottles to 100% recovered coastal plastic through SC Johnson’s partnership with Plastic Bank®. Since 2018, SC Johnson has worked with Plastic Bank to create over 550 plastic collection locations across Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Brazil, where collection members are paid to gather plastic. This program not only helps clean up the environment but also provides direct economic benefits to the communities who collect it.
When choosing Method®, you’re choosing to support:
- packaging primarily made with only one kind of plastic
- product sleeves that can be removed
- durable and refillable products that you can reuse over and over again and recycle when you are done with them
- concentrated formulas that require less water, which means less energy needed for shipping
Use less. Waste less. Recycle More.
Revaluating your facility’s sustainability program should include an assessment of your facility’s cleaning products and processes. Simple changes can be made that could have a significant impact on your sustainability efforts, like using products packaged with recycled materials and implementing the use of concentrated chemicals. Additionally, consider encouraging your facility to implement and follow recycling programs and best practices for applicable materials after use.
Doing so not only contributes to positive practices around your facility but can also positively impact your business. It can save you money and help build stronger employee and customer loyalty, allowing us all to make a difference and reduce our environmental impact.
